Bozal Cempasuchil Reserva Mezcal Espadin 750ml

Bozal Cempasúchil is a Reserva mezcal made from Espadín agave in Etla, Oaxaca, and distilled in clay pots in the pechuga style. Marigold (cempasúchil) flowers and mandarin peels go into the still in place of the usual animal protein, which makes it vegan, and it is bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV).

Expect citrus, late-season flowers, and baking spice on the nose, then green pepper, orange zest, nutmeg, and anise on the palate, with black pepper and light smoke on the finish. Bozal made it for Día de los Muertos, and it is best sipped neat.
