W.L. Weller 12 Year Bourbon

W.L. Weller 12 Year is one of the most sought-after wheated bourbons, made at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Weller uses wheat instead of rye as the secondary grain, which gives a softer, rounder profile. Twelve years in oak adds depth and structure to that gentle base.

The nose shows lanolin, almond, creamed corn and toasted vanilla. The palate is heavily wheated, layered and moderately sweet, and the finish is oaky and notably smooth.

This bottle is best enjoyed neat or with a single cube, so the wheat and older oak can come through. Weller 12 is hard to find, and it is a treasured pour for fans of wheated bourbon.
