Locke Co Distillery Aspen Aged Rye 750 ml

Aspen Aged Rye is the flagship whiskey from Locke + Co Distilling in Aspen, Colorado. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, aged more than two years in new 30-gallon oak barrels at char levels 2 through 5. It is then finished for eight months on hand-cut, hand-charred Aspen wood discs, blended twice, and bottled at 90 proof.

The distillery's notes describe baking bread, caramel, toffee, light brown sugar and cinnamon on the nose. The palate opens sweet with cherry pit and vanilla, then moves to caramel, maple syrup, tobacco and soft rye spice, with ginger and black pepper on the finish. It won Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
