Description
Remus Repeal Reserve is an annual release from Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, marking the 1933 repeal of Prohibition. It is named for George Remus, the Prohibition-era bootlegger. Series IX came out in fall 2025 at 104 proof, the highest proof in the series so far, and is non-chill filtered.
Master Distiller Ian Stirsman blended four high-rye bourbons: 44% 10-year (21% rye mash bill), 26% 11-year (36% rye), 23% 10-year (36% rye) and 7% 18-year (21% rye). The distillery's notes describe seasoned oak, leather, ripe cherry and subtle tobacco on the nose, cherry, roasted coffee and smoky spice on the palate, and a lingering finish of oak, spice, coffee, cherry and tobacco.
