Description
Mary Dowling Whiskey Co. honors the woman known as the "Mother of Bourbon," the most successful female distiller of pre-Prohibition Kentucky, who kept making whiskey in Juárez, Mexico, during Prohibition. The company is a partnership between Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame whiskey maker Kaveh Zamanian and Pernod Ricard.
This high-rye, double-malt Kentucky straight bourbon ages at least four years in new toasted and charred Kelvin Cooperage American oak, then finishes in Appalachian oak barrels that previously held reposado tequila, a nod to Mary's time in Mexico. The brand notes oak, herbal roots, orange and light florals on the nose, then agave, lemon, grapefruit, smoke, tobacco and nutmeg, with a black-peppery, medium-length finish.
