La Gritona Reposado Tequila 750 ml

La Gritona Reposado is made by Melly Barajas at her small, female-run distillery in Valle de Guadalupe, in the Jalisco Highlands. Agave is harvested at peak ripeness, slow-cooked in brick ovens, fermented with natural ambient yeasts, and double distilled in small pot stills, with no additives.

The tequila then rests for about eight months in well-used American oak barrels that are reused batch after batch. The old casks soften the spirit without masking it, so the Highland agave stays at the center. Expect a complex, brooding profile with caramelized fruit, ginger, and pepper.

Sip it neat or with a single cube, and pour it for anyone who thinks reposados taste mostly of wood. Its green glass bottle is easy to spot on the shelf.
