Description
George Dickel Signature Recipe, formerly known as George Dickel No. 12, is the brand's flagship Tennessee whisky. It is made at Cascade Hollow Distillery near Tullahoma, Tennessee, from a mash of 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% malted barley, and bottled at 90 proof.
Dickel's signature step is chill charcoal mellowing: the new spirit is chilled to about 40°F before resting for several days in vats filled with 10 to 12 feet of charcoal, a take on the Lincoln County Process. It then ages in new charred American oak. The brand spells it "whisky" because founder George A. Dickel believed his spirit was the equal of the finest Scotch.
Expect a mellow, easygoing pour that works neat, on the rocks or in a highball.
