Description
Linkumpinch comes from Dueling Grounds Distillery in Franklin, Kentucky, just off Interstate 65 near the Tennessee state line. The name honors Linkumpinch Farm, a spot outside Franklin where duels were fought in the late 1700s and early 1800s, and a pair of dueling pistols on the label nods to that history.
This small batch expression is Bottled in Bond, which means it follows the strict federal standard: distilled by one distillery in a single distilling season, aged at least four years in a bonded warehouse under government supervision, and bottled at exactly 100 proof. Dueling Grounds builds its bourbon on a wheated mash bill, which tends to give a softer, rounder sweetness than rye-heavy recipes, while the full 100 proof keeps plenty of depth and warmth.
Pour it neat to get to know a small Kentucky distillery, add a few drops of water to open it up, or let it carry an Old Fashioned.
