Buzzard's Roost Toasted American Oak Straight Bourbon Whisky 750 ML

Buzzard's Roost Toasted American Oak Straight Bourbon is a blend of two MGP Indiana mash bills, one 74% corn, 21% rye, and 5% malted barley, the other 59% corn, 36% rye, and 5% malted barley, aged 4 and 5 years, and given a secondary maturation in Buzzard's Roost's own toasted (not charred) barrels, bottled and finished at Bardstown Bourbon Company in Kentucky. Toasted barrels are more common in winemaking than whiskey and bring out notes like almond, coconut, and cinnamon. Bottled at 105 proof (52.5% ABV). It was named Best Bourbon at the 2024 Barleycorn Awards.

Moderately woody on the nose, with spice and a touch of eucalyptus. The palate mixes butterscotch, milk chocolate, graham cracker, and crème brûlée with candied orange and a hint of red berry, and the finish carries vanilla and warm spice. Good neat or with a few drops of water.
