Brother's Bond Bottled-In-Bond Straight Bourbon follows the rules of the 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Act: one distillery, one distilling season, and bottled at exactly 100 proof. It is aged at least seven years, three more than the bonded minimum. The whiskey is distilled in Columbia, Tennessee, from a rye-forward mash of corn, rye and malted rye.

That high-rye recipe and the extra time in oak produce a deep, layered pour. Expect candied dark fruit and a hint of port wine up front, followed by toasted oak, caramel, brown sugar and maple syrup. The long, warm finish brings cinnamon, fig jam, mint and a touch of smoky leather.

At 100 proof it holds up well with a splash of water or a large cube, and it has the backbone for an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. It is a strong pick for bourbon drinkers who want age and proof at the same time.
