Bodega Cat Rye Whiskey 750ml

Bodega Cat is a small-batch straight rye owned by comedians Mark Normand and Sam Morril, co-hosts of the We Might Be Drunk podcast. It takes its name and attitude from New York City's famous bodega cats: unpretentious, fun and a little mischievous. The brand sums itself up as NYC-inspired, Indiana born and Kentucky bottled.

The mash is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and aged at least three years in new American oak barrels with a #3 char before bottling in Bardstown, Kentucky. On the nose, look for cinnamon and earthy herbs with caramel and toasted oak. The palate brings honeyed rye, mint and a touch of malt sweetness, and the finish carries lingering spice and dry oak with hints of dark chocolate and citrus zest.

At 90 proof, it's a lively rye for Manhattans and Old Fashioneds, and easy enough to sip neat.
