Ardbeg Anthology: The Harpy's Tale 13 Year Old Scotch Whisky

The Harpy's Tale is a 13 year old Islay single malt and the first release in Ardbeg's Anthology collection, matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and Sauternes wine casks. It is bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV), and Ardbeg's Dr Bill Lumsden describes it as a battle between sweet and smoke.

The nose is oily, with olive oil, briar wood, aromatic herbs, and smoked lemon peel, and the soft, mouth-coating palate brings treacle, oak moss, aniseed, smoked apricot, and eucalyptus. The finish is long and sweet-smoky, with cumin, cardamom, and a hint of coconut. Try it neat, then with a drop of water.
