Aberlour 12 Year 750 ml

Aberlour Distillery, founded in 1879, sits in the heart of Speyside, Scotland. It is known for sherry-influenced single malts, and the 12 Year Old Double Cask is its flagship example.

The whisky matures for at least 12 years in two types of cask: traditional American oak ex-bourbon casks and sherry-seasoned European oak butts. The two are then married together. Bourbon casks bring vanilla and honey, and sherry casks add dark fruit and spice.

On the nose, expect red apple, honey, plums and figs, with chocolate, vanilla and citrus coming through. The palate brings blackberries, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg, and the warm finish lingers with apple, maple and vanilla. It is an approachable introduction to sherried Speyside malt.
