Glendalough Pot Still Wicklow-grown Irish Oak Whiskey 750 ML

Glendalough Distillery sits in the Wicklow mountains south of Dublin, and this pot still whiskey is finished in oak from those same hills. The trees are harvested under a Continuous Cover Forest Management System, with seven saplings planted for every oak felled.

The whiskey is finished in slow-toasted Irish oak casks of 250-litre hogshead size. Glendalough describes a nose of sweet citrus, vanilla, caramel, banana and treacle with earthy, herbal oak spice and leather. The palate is chewy, warm and buttery, with pot still malt, toffeed pears, treacle, cinnamon, nutmeg and toasted, tannic oak. The finish is long, with creamy vanilla, almond, forest fruit and toasted Irish oak.

It is a rare chance to taste what native Irish oak brings to Irish whiskey.
