Every year, Clase Azul releases a limited Día de Muertos edition to honor Mexico's Day of the Dead, celebrated on November 1 and 2. The decanters are hand-painted ceramic pieces, and collectors watch for each new release. The 2026 edition, Trascender, is now available for pre-order.
From Nuestros Recuerdos to Trascender
From 2021 to 2025, Clase Azul's Día de Muertos releases formed a five-part series called Nuestros Recuerdos, or "our memories." Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco described the 2025 edition as the series' epilogue. Its tequila was aged in first-use American whiskey barrels, and its decanter, illustrated by Erika Rivera, carried a golden locket with obsidian made by the Milagros de Latón artisan collective.
Trascender opens a new chapter. Its theme is the transformation of life, the lasting power of memory, and the soul's journey toward the sun.
What's in the 2026 bottle
Trascender is a blend of two añejo tequilas, each aged more than 30 months. One is finished in former Champagne casks, which brings buttery, toasted-nut and fresh-bread notes; the other is aged in American whiskey casks for depth and toasted oak. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
Expect pear compote, ripe apple, peach, honey and sourdough bread on the nose, with ripe pear, agave nectar, cacao nibs and toasted walnut on the palate and a long, warm finish with gentle spice and oak.
The decanter
The hand-painted ceramic decanter fades from deep blue to magenta, a color inspired by the mano de león flower. It is decorated with floral artwork, tiny skulls and symbolic droplets, two marigolds that stand for the soul in transformation, and brushstrokes of 24-karat gold rising toward the sun. Roughly 10,000 one-liter decanters were produced worldwide.
